NPFL: Forget about the loss to Wikki and focus on defeating Heartland, GM Charges Rivers United players and officials.

General Manager of Rivers United FC, Chief Dr. Okey Kpalukwu (Eze-Udo), has charged players and Officials of Rivers United to forget about the 1-0 loss to Wikki Tourist in Bauchi and focus on this weekends game against Heartland FC and the CAF Confederation Cup 2nd leg tie against Bloemfontein Celtic in Port Novo, Benin Republic.

Chief Kpalukwu gave this charge in Port Harcourt on Saturday. He stressed that the 2020/2021 season is a marathon and not a sprint so this is not the time to start celebrating or resting on our laurels. To this end, he urged everyone involved with Rivers United to redouble our efforts in 2021. He however added that a win against Heartland will further strengthen the club’s hold on top of the NPFL log and provide the needed motivation for the CAF Confederation Cup game.

His words: “We must put behind us this minor setback we had in Bauchi and bounce back to winning ways on Sunday against Heartland. Winning this game is very important to us as a team because it will mean we retain number one spot and also ensure we are in the right spirit to face Bloemfontein Celtic in Port Novo Benin Republic.”

“I also want to reassure you of the total support of the sponsors of the club, the Rivers State Government, under the able guidance of the Governor, His Excellency, Chief, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS, POS, the Commissioner for Sports Honourable Boma Iyaye and the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Sports Sir Honour Sirawoo.”
