Rivers United FC sends condolence message to Lagos State govt over Tinubu’s death

Rivers United FC has sent a message of condolence to the Lagos State Government following the unfortunate demise of Deji Tinubu.

Tinubu, until has passing, was a member of the Lagos State Executive council and also the immediate past Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission.

Speaking to our official website, www.riversunitedfc.com.ng on the sad development, General Manager of Rivers United FC, Chief Okey Kpalukwu expressed deep sadness while also noting that the entire Rivers United family shares in the pain of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency , Akinwunmi Ambode and the good people of Lagos State.

Chief Kpalukwu further described the late Tinubu as a complete gentleman and an astute sport administrator whose watchword at all times was implicit professionalism.

The late Tinubu reportedly slumped and died on Thursday night in Epe, during a novelty football match involving cabinet members of the Lagos State government.

Chief Kpalukwu noted that the late Tinubu will be greatly missed by the Nigerian sports fraternity and prayed God to give his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

” Deji Tinubu’s death remains one of the saddest chapters in Nigerian sports in 2018.

“We at Rivers United FC received the news with shock, consternation and deep sadness.

“We deeply sympathize with the Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Akinwumi Ambode as well as the good people of Lagos State.

“It is our earnest prayer that God will give his family the fortitude to bear the loss,” Chief Kpalukwu concluded.
