RIVERS UNITED AIM TO REDEFINE FORM AGAINST EL KANEMI
It will be Match day twenty one this weekend in the Nigeria Professional Football League with Rivers United amongst the twenty teams in action.
The ‘Pride of Rivers’ make the long trip with the Driving Distance calculated at 1,248 km to Maiduguri to face El Kanemi Warriors in an important fixture with points also up for grabs.
It has not been rosy for United as they have managed to get five points from a possible 15 in their last five fixtures heading into Sunday’s match.
El Kanemi who will no doubt represent tough proposition are equally not in fine form as inconsistency have plagued them which has left them sitting 17th on the log.
The Warriors have won two and lost three of their last five matches but are yet to lose at home this season.
United will however be well aware of the fact that El Kanemi led by former Enugu Rangers coach, Imama Amapakabo will be looking to better their league position by getting all three points but with likes of Niger Tornadoes and Enyimba getting a point at the El-Kanemi Sports Stadium, Maiduguri this could raise the confidence levels the United players.
Also The Pride of Rivers will be aiming for a double against El Kanemi following their match day one 1-0 win at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium.
What the manager says
Technical manager of United, Stanley Eguma says his charges will need to be up for it against a very difficult El Kanemi side.
“We expect a very though game, El Kanemi are in trouble waters, and we have lost points at home, so we have to go there to fight with all our lives, some teams have gone there to pick some points so with determination and commitment we can get a good result against El Kanemi” Eguma told our official website,www.riversunitedfc.com.ng.
