Below are quotes of key dramatis personae for Sunday’s first leg, first round 2017 Caf Champions League game between Rivers United (Nigeria) and Al-Merreikh (Sudan).

Diego Garzitto (Italian coach of Al-Merreikh)

“We come here (Port Harcourt) with the objective to win this match against Rivers United.

“We know that Rivers United is a good team but we will do all we can to win,” he said.

“Those three players are just like any of the others in my squad.

“I am only interested in getting a good performance from my players on Sunday irrespective of their nationalities.

“We will try to win tomorrow and finish off the job in Omdurman.

“We trust our team and we know we will produce a good match.

“Hopefully, things will go well for us,” Garzitto said.

Kelechi Osunwa (Al-Merreikh’s Nigerian striker)

“I have great memories of Port Harcourt and I am glad to be back to play against my former club even though they have now merged (with Sharks to form Rivers United)

“It will be a great game on Sunday and we will see how it goes in the end.

“I didn’t really give tips (about Rivers United) to my coach (Diego Garzito) because most of the players are new players,” Osunwa said.

Dayo Ojo (Al-Merreikh midfielder)

“We are not here for fun. We are here to play football.

“There are no easy games in football anymore and we hope we can get a positive result on Sunday,” Ojo said.

Azunda Stanley Eguma (Rivers United’s technical manager)

“I have always clamoured for the fans to come to the Stadium to cheer the boys.

“The boys always do better when they see the fans cheering and giving them support.

“We got great support from the fans when we faced (Malian club), AS real Bamako (in the preliminary round) and the result was a resounding victory.

“The players have assured that they will give their best on Sunday to make the fans happy,” he said.
